hello, I suggest you check out present and past posts on the Celexa forum where you posted just now.... You will find alot of good information about what other people have been prescribed and notes on how they adapted to the medication, what side effects you may experience at first, and all sorts of good information about dosages also.... I am sure others will respond, but I think this question *has* been addressed on almost every post as people do talk about what dosages here they are started out on! I am not putting you off with a yes or no answer but the dosage varies by doctor and person and situation etc... there are lots of factors involved when a doctor makes an assessment and prescribes a dosage and this information can also be gleamed by going through past posts! Plus you will learn alot more information that will be helpful! Good Luck, and reading these current and pasts posts will be very informative! Keep us posted how it goes for you and if you start or have been on 30 mg, and feel there is a problem, you can always talk to your doctor about tweaking the dosage. Information supplied on Depression Forums by members should not be relied upon and is not a substitute for medical advice from a health professional or doctor. Back to top Back to top Hi jhj98 , A therapeutic dose is an effective dose, which means that the level of Celexa in your Brain/Body is at a level that you are now feeling well again. This is the optimum dose for everyone with depression. Only you can tell if you are feeling well again , back to good functioning , all your depression symptoms have faded. Then you will have reached the therapeutic/effective dose for you be that 20/30/40/ mgms. So how do you feel on 30mg? Best Wishes Jim Bow Hi Jim Bow, If you remember responding to some of my previous posts, this is what my mother in law is taking. She's been on 30 mg for six weeks now. She's not getting any better I'm afraid. She's one of these that is very sensitive to medications. If you change her does just a little bit, the following day she starts burning all over and just feels miserable. So I guess I'll have to give her pdoc's office a call next week and see what they think. She's about at wits end with all this. At her last visit the pdoc mentioned adding abilify onto her antidepressant to see if that would give her a kick. I don't know what else to help her with.
